In 2007 Ian Burrell created the UK RumFest, a world’s first at the time.
The UK RumFest has gone onto the influence of rum festivals and fairs all over the world including The Miami Rum Congress, the Berlin Rumfest, Paris Rhum fest and the other rum festivals in Czech Republic, Sweden, Mauritius, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Jamaica. The London event, which takes place annually during October, the UK’s Black History month, attracts most of the world’s biggest rum brands as well as many new and craft rums in the market.

During this time The UK RumFest has helped to grow the Rum category globally as the UK is seen as an one of the most influential rum markets in the world. In 2023, Sales of rum in Great Britain’s on-trade reached £1.1 billion (US$1.4bn) in value in the 12 months to December 2023, overtaking whisky for the second year in a row. Every year the festival hosts the world’s best rum blenders, distillers and aficionados and ambassadors that share their knowledge and passion for the rum category to the thirsty rum patrons.
